Super Mario RPG was added to Nintendo's digital download service on the Wii, the Virtual Console, on Labor Day, September 1, 2008, in the United States. ![]() “It’s a chain reaction!” became “Not my chain!” JP Bowser instead screams “Don’t let go!”) Various phrases (mostly puns CoolCatBomberMan disliked) rewritten with no regard for the original JP text.“It’s time for MY wedding!” - “It’s time for my wedding!”) Typos and unnecessary capitalizations fixed, often causing a loss of emphasis in tone.(along with a few extra unnecessarily added) Final Fantasy references lost/removed in translation have been restored.Psychopath quotes which were originally (contemporary) Japanese pop culture references have been replaced with (recent, ill-fitting) American pop culture references.Mistranslated monster names inconsistently fixed (Goby is now Cheep Cheep, Shy Away is now Beezo, but Culex remains unchanged, etc.).However, it was soon discovered that Super Mario RPG’s text had enough small translation errors, typos and out-of-nowhere capitalization to warrant a close look through every line of dialogue and change what errors could be found. This hack was originally intended to replace Culex’s dialogue to match what he says in Japanese for private use.
